symplectic
Said of a rock texture produced by the intimate intergrowth of two different minerals; sometimes the term is restricted to such textures of secondary origin. One of the minerals may assume a vermicular habit. Also, said of a rock exhibiting such texture, or of the intergrowth itself; i.e., symplectite. Also spelled: symplektic; symplectitic; symplektitic.
