Tuweep
Tuweap is a primitive section of the Grand Canyon located on the remote northwest rim on the canyon's Arizona Strip. The view from Tuweap Overlook, 3000 vertical feet (914 meters) above the Colorado River, is a breathtaking and dramatic sheer drop. The volcanic features, cinder cones, and lava flows make Tuweep unique in Grand Canyon National Park. The name Tuweep came into use to describe the white settlement and later the park district.
A visit to Tuweep, a road accessible primitive area, can be very rewarding; however, access is challenging and demands skill at negotiating difficult roadways.
