Certain plants (mostly leguminous) that are capable of biological conversion of molecular dinitrogen (atmospheric nitrogen, or N2) to organic combinations (nitrogen fixation), or to forms usable in biological processes, through the action of symbiotic rhizobia (bacteria) in the root nodules.
