Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
Independent agency in the federal executive branch, established under the Federal Trade Commission Act and the Clayton Act of 1914. The FTC works to promote free and fair competition in the American economic system. It seeks to prevent monopolies or other restraints on trade; and to stop unfair or deceptive trade practices.
