Amharic
Amharic is the official language of Ethiopia. It is a member of the Semitic family of Afro-Asiatic languages. Groups of people living in North Africa and Southwest Asia (including the Middle East) speak Semitic languages. Semitic languages are often grouped by geographic location. In Ethiopia, Amharic qualifies as a Southwestern Semitic language.
